Revolutionizing soccer in southern massachusetts

Soccer has deep roots in the culture and history of the South Coast of Massachusetts.

More than a century ago, the Fall River Rovers competed on one of American soccer’s biggest stages, reaching the U.S. Open Cup Final during the 1915–1916 season. Less than two decades later, the New Bedford Whalers carried that tradition forward, capturing the championship in 1932 and establishing New Bedford as an important part of the region’s soccer history.

Nearly a century has passed since Southern Massachusetts had a serious competitive soccer club capable of representing the character, pride, and hard-working identity of the South Coast.

Now, it is time to build that tradition again.

New Bedford has always carried the unmistakable competitive spirit of New England. You can see it everywhere—from a pickup basketball game on a cold Friday afternoon to the intensity of a packed New Bedford High School soccer match. Competition is part of this city’s identity. New Bedford is passionate about its sports, its neighborhoods, and the people who represent them.

The ownership of New Bedford City FC believes there is a unique opportunity to bring a winning soccer culture back to this historic region and give the people of the South Coast a club they can truly call their own.

This is personal to us. Each member of the club’s ownership has grown up in and around New Bedford. We know this city. We know its people, its character, and the pride that comes with representing the South Coast.

That is why New Bedford City FC aims to become much more than a soccer club.

We want to become part of the community.

NBCFC will strive to represent the values, traditions, and determination of the local soccer community while creating an organization that players, supporters, families, and businesses across Southern Massachusetts can be proud to stand behind. Our ambition is to establish a culture built around community, opportunity, competitiveness, and the pursuit of winning.

We are committed to working alongside local businesses, community organizations, athletes, coaches, and supporters to build a premier soccer experience in New Bedford. Most importantly, we want the people of this city to have a team of their own—a club they can support, participate in, and help shape for generations to come.

New Bedford has a proud sporting history. It has a proud soccer history.

We believe it is time to write the next chapter.

We look forward to building New Bedford City FC alongside the people of this great city, and we cannot wait to see you at the field.
